Described as a warm and enveloping voice with a golden, lyric line, soprano Erin White has been seen in numerous opera and musical theater roles including Despina (Così fan tutte), Papagena (The Magic Flute), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Laurey Williams (Oklahoma), and Luisa (Nine). She will sing as Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro) in February as a part of "Operamuse," a Seattle Groupmuse series.
Ms. White has been an Associate Member of the Seattle Opera Chorus since 2015. Her upcoming performances with the company include La Traviata in January and The Magic Flute in May. Her other performances with the chorus include: Nabucco, The Pearl Fishers, Maria Stuarda, Der Fliegender Hollander, and Le Comte Ory. She has worked as an Advanced Artist with the OperaWorks program in Los Angeles, and sang as Despina, Girl (Trouble in Tahiti), and in opera scenes over several summers with the PLU Summer Opera Workshop. Ms. White has also appeared in the roles of Sandman and Dew Fairy in Vashon Opera’s 2012 Hansel and Gretel .
Her recent musical theater work includes the roles of Woman 1 (Closer than Ever), Luisa (Nine), and Poncia (Bernarda Alba) at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Other favorite roles inlcude: Georgia Hendricks (Curtains), Moonbeam McSwine (Li'l Abner), and Hodel (Fiddler on the Roof).
As a concert soloist, Ms. White has performed Beethoven’s Mass in C with both the Everett Philharmonic and the Pacific Lutheran University Orchestra and Johnathan Wilcox’s Magnificat. Her choral work includes singing as a member of the nationally recognized Choir of the West at Pacific Lutheran University, touring in France, Germany, Vancouver, and in the US. She currently enjoys singing with PLU's Choral Union, an internationally-touring community chorus under the direction of Dr. Richard Nance.
Off-stage, Ms. White works with a growing number of voice students as the Associate Teacher of the O'Shields Studio based in Maple Valley, WA. She also enjoys exploring a wide range of repertoire both familiar and new in recitals with her fiance, composer and pianist Collin Whitfield.
Ms. White received her Master of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and her Bachelor of Music degree from Pacific Lutheran University.
